Anti-War Protester Interrupts John Kerry’s Senate Confirmation Hearing

In News, NWO, USA, USA, Viral Videos, World Revolution on January 26, 2013 at 8:41 AM

US Senator John Kerry’s hearing to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State this week was pretty uneventful until this happened.

19-year-old Lachelle Roddy from Tampa, Florida was arrested for her outburst –who urged an end to excessive US financial aid to Israel, drone use and hawkish policies towards the Middle East region. In her first face-to-face interview–she spoke to Press TV to discuss why she interrupted the hearing.

Kerry responded to Roddy’s criticisms and addressed his Congressional colleagues after she was escorted out of the room by Capitol Police. She was later released with a citation.

Roddy, who is relatively new to activism, said she was surprised that Kerry acknowledged her demonstration at the hearing. Kerry is a Vietnam veteran who is most noted for speaking out against that war and other aggressive US military policies –sometimes facing unbeatable odds.

Kerry is expected to succeed Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State without much resistance unlike other Obama-backed nominees suggested to fill the top cabinet positions. Roddy says she’s cautiously optimistic about Kerry who seems to have empathy on scaling-down America’s military presence overseas, while assessing concerns of the international community.

Roddy is supported by the group Code Pink a well-known activist group here in Washington, DC. Roddy is currently studying political science and says as far as her activism is concerned, she’s just getting started.

Lupe Fiasco Forced Off Stage After 40-Minute Anti-War Rap at Obama Pre-Inauguration Event

In Barack Obama, News, USA, USA, Viral Videos, World Revolution on January 21, 2013 at 6:00 AM

Rapper Lupe Fiasco was thrown offstage and escorted off the premises of a Washington, D.C. concert hall during a pre-inauguration concert Sunday night, after going on an anti-war, anti-Obama rant, according to concertgoers.

Josh Rogin, a reporter with Foreign Policy magazine, tweeted late Sunday, “Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set.”

“So Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn’t vote for Obama,” he continued, ”and eventually was told to move on to the next song…Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.”

Another attendee at the StartUp RockOn event tweeted, “Things going terribly wrong at @lupefiasco performance during#SURO. Kicked off stage, bashing obama…”

This isn’t the first time the rapper, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, has been vocal about his dislike for the president.

During an interview with CBS in 2011, he called the president a terrorist. Lupe said, “My fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama and the United States of America. I’m trying to fight the terrorism that’s actually causing the other forms of terrorism.”

“You know, the root cause of terrorism is the stuff the U.S. government allows to happen. The foreign policies that we have in place in different countries that inspire people to become terrorists.”

Lupe has also criticized Obama’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has stated that he does not vote in elections because of his anti-establishment views.

StartUp Rock On, the concert’s organizers, claimed shortly after 2:00 a.m. Monday that Lupe “left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant.’”

“We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech,” the organizers said. “This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”

Stealth Wear: NY Artist to Debut Drone-Proof Anti-Surveillance Clothing Line

In Big Brother, News, NWO, Police State, Science & Technology, USA, USA, World Revolution on January 13, 2013 at 4:52 AM

Some fashonistas strive for sexy when it comes to clothes, but one artist from New York is taking a rather utilitarian approach with outfits — he’s about to unveil a whole line of garments designed to make the wearer nearly invisible to drones.

Brooklyn-based artist Adam Harvey used to work primarily with photography, but he undertakes an entirely different medium with his newest project. He says that in the years since the United States post-9/11 PATRIOT Act has been in place, cameras have stopped becoming “art making tools” and have instead become “enablers of surveillance societies.”

That was Harvey’s explanation last year when he discussed his projects with the website Rhizome. At the time, Harvey was experimenting with how household make-up could render it harder for computers to use facial recognition programs to pluck people out of crowds. And while the practice of examining facial features using biometrics and sophisticated surveillance cameras has certainly intensified in the months since, Harvey has found another type of evasive practice that is a bit harder to avoid: the drone.

The United States currently has a modest arsenal of unmanned aerial vehicles — UAVS, or drones – that it uses in surveillance missions on its border with Mexico and in war zones overseas. By the year 2020, however, the Federal Aviation Administration expects the number of domestic drones in American airspace to be as large as 30,000.

At the moment, law enforcement agencies across the country are trying to get their hands on their own surveillance drones, some of which “can zoom in and read a milk carton from 60,000 feet,” according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation. And while escaping a space-age robotic spy machine thousands of feet above the Earth might not be as easy as, say, putting on some blush or mascara to make it harder to be detected, Harvey has designed an entire clothing line that will help disguise people from the all-seeing eye of Big Brother.

On January 17, Harvey will unveil Stealth Wear at a studio in London. There he’ll debut his “new counter surveillance fashions” that he plans to also test before his private audience.

“Building off previous work with CV Dazzle, camouflage from face detection, Privacy Mode continues to explore the aesthetics of privacy and the potential for fashion to challenge authoritarian surveillance,” the press release reads.

In collaboration with NYC fashion designer Johanna Bloomfield, Harvey has tried to tackle “some of the most pressing and sophisticated forms of surveillance today.”

Ultimately, it’s a fashion statement that says an earful to those enabling a growing spy state.

“I think building privacy into modern garments can make them feel more comfortable and, like armor, more protected,” Harvey told Rhizome last year. “Data and privacy are increasingly valuable personal assets and it doesn’t make sense to not protect them. It’s also a great conversation starter.”

Harvey hopes to get those conversations starting next week in London, where he will unveil an anti-drone hoodie and matching scarf, a shirt that shields the wearer from X-rays and a pocket protector that he says blocks cell phones from sending and receiving signals.

For the hoodie and scarf set, Harvey and Bloomfield use materials designed to thwart thermal imaging, which the artist says most UAVs employ in order to zero-in on targets. The t-shirt allegedly protects a person’s internal organs from harmful X-rays and the “Off Pocket” pants accessory disconnects mobile devices from service providers with special materials.

“Smartphones infiltrate our senses. They cause anxiety, phantom vibrations, and keep us on alert,” he told Rhizome. “We expend energy maintaining an always-on connection. Smartphones should come with a switch to turn this off, but they don’t. Turning my iPhone off and back on takes 45 seconds. Using flight mode is also clumsy. I wanted a way to quickly and politely disconnect myself without relying on the phone’s software or hardware features. The Off Pocket circumvents this design flaw.”

“[W]hen I first modified my pants with signal attenuating fabric, it felt odd to be unplugged. It was as if I had blocked out part of the world, covered my ears, or closed my eyes. But then I adjusted and realized that I had just opened them again.”

The artist says accompanying each project will be either recorded and in-person demonstrations that reveal the process behind each specific technology and counter technology relevant to his work.

Speaking to the UK’s Register back in 2010, Harvey said even then that surveillance was becoming more prevalent.

“The number of sensors that are going into the public spaces has been increasing,” he said, adding that we very well might be “heading to the point where we as a society need to think about what we are comfortable with.”

“Maybe you could go to a privacy hair stylist in the future,” he quipped.

Tehran Criticizes U.S. for Anti-Iran Latin America Law

In Iran, News, NWO, Politics, USA on January 2, 2013 at 4:18 AM

Iran has criticized the United States for the enactment of a ‘meddlesome’ law to counter the Islamic Republic’s growing influence in Latin America.

“The Americans are still living in the Cold War era and imagine that Latin America is [still] their backyard, and intend to impose and dictate their own policies on independent countries,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday.

He noted that the US officials’ blatant interference in such affairs indicates their lack of knowledge of the new world order.

On December 28, 2012, the US President Barack Obama signed off on the “Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act” which US lawmakers had adopted earlier in the year.

The act calls for the US State Department to work out a strategy within six months to “address Iran’s growing hostile presence and activity” in Latin America.

Since 2005, Iran has opened six new embassies in Latin America. It has now 11 embassies and 17 cultural centers in that region.

“Iran’s relations with all countries, particularly in Latin America, are friendly and based on mutual respect and interests, and these relations will result in more welfare and development [of both sides],” Mehmanparast said.

“I recommend the US officials to respect the sovereignty of states instead of opting for meddlesome methods, and brace for joint global management for resolving global crises which have been created by US politicians in the social and economic arenas,” he added.

“Public opinion no longer accepts meddlesome actions and Latin American countries regulate and pursue their foreign relations based on their own interests,” noted the Iranian official.

Russia’s New Anti-Riot Weapon: The Shuttlecock Machine Gun

In News, NWO, Other Leaks, Police Brutality, Police State, Russia, Viral Videos, World Revolution on June 10, 2012 at 3:11 PM

Troublemakers acting aggressively at public gatherings in Russia will soon have to face a mammoth badminton-based weapon. Russian law enforcement is ready to test a shuttlecock machine-gun that will easily knock down any professional tennis player.

Like their colleagues abroad, Russian riot police units are well equipped with water cannon, tear gas grenades and electric stunning devices. But international experience shows that so-called “non-lethal weapons” can be deadly after all.

Tear gas can make some choke to death, while stun guns can easily cause heart arrest. Water cannon cannot be used in Russia in winter as wet protesters might suffer from hypothermia.

So, Russian police are reluctant to use “non-lethal” ammunition.

In 2009, the country’s Ministry of Interior conducted an open competitive tender for a pneumatic non-lethal crowd control system.

The winning company produced a gun that uses 300-atmosphere pressurized air to throw plastic birdies that can stop even a physically vigorous rioter right on the spot.

Gone are the times when police had to hide behind riot shields as enraged street fighters showered them with rocks and pieces of tarmac. Because a pneumatic shuttlecock machine-gun easily tames anybody’s ardor.

The pneumatic machine gun uses a 22-millimeter-diameter, 4.8-gram shuttlecock as its primary weapon. It weights the same as a bullet but doesn’t fly as fast, and has a much wider hitting surface. The projectile can be loaded with paint to mark malicious troublemakers or simply make it extra heavy, by up to 30 grams more, for additional stopping power.

A standard shot with a basic plastic birdie could be compared to a “flick of father’s belt”, the gun’s creators say, while an extra heavy hit strikes like a horse’s kick.

The “Birdiethrower” can make one sniper shot per second at 50-meter accuracy range. The computer system that operates the gun calculates its power in accordance with the distance to the target: if the person gets closer – the computer downgrades the gun’s power so as not to cripple him or her.

Operating the gun may seem like a videogame, but the operator will bear responsibility for every shot he makes: the system makes a video record of everything it does.

The pneumatic machine-gun is assembled on a standard Tiger armored vehicle and is operated by one man plus the driver of the vehicle.

Could the shuttlecock machine-gun be deadly? No, say the gun’s creators. They confess that while adjusting the system they had to perform an experiment on living pigs, one of which eventually died of multiple strikes. This death in the name of public order helped write a program that adjusts the power of the gun and now it is safe to use.

Still, although the “Birdiethrower” may be safer than tear gas and stun guns, getting a 300-atmosphere propelled plastic birdie in the forehead would be an unpleasant experience for anyone.
