Included in a FOIA request by Jason Leopold with agencies for files on the human rights organization Cage Prisoners, was a U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) document on “US-based internet infrastructure of Anwar al-Awlaqi and Samir Khan.” Awlaki and Khan were both American citizens who were targeted by the U.S. government for their alleged association with Al-Qaeda, and killed in Yemen by a CIA drone strike in 2011. The document shows a list of web addresses that appear to be either created by, visited by, or about the two men and the “Ansar Al-Jihad Network,” a main jihadist online forum.
