Anonymous has begun a DDoS campaign against Myanmar government websites as part of Operation Rohingya. The aim of the attacks is to protest against discrimination of the ethnic Rohingya people of Myanmar. Anonymous accuses border police and several political forces for torturing and killing people coming from Rohingya minority, including women and children. Myanmar’s government considers the Rohingya minority as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, and local residents often attack them. Clashes between locals and Rohingya in June 2012 killed an estimated 80 people and displaced tens of thousands more. The government imposed a nighttime curfew and declared a state of emergency in six townships which has been on and off since then.
