Syria has temporarily closed the international airport in Aleppo, the country’s second-largest city, due to attacks by rebel fighters, AFP reported, citing an anonymous airport official.
There have been continued attempts by opposition militants to target civilian aircraft, which could cause a humanitarian disaster,” he said.
Airport authorities confirmed that the hub was closed, but said that the closure was due to maintenance work on the runway and other ground facilities.
