The Japanese government says the missile test-fired by North Korea appears to have passed over Okinawa Prefecture at about 10:01 AM on Wednesday.
It said its PAC-3 missile defense system was not activated.
It also said the missile appears to have fallen into the Pacific Ocean about 300 kilometers east of the Philippines at about 10:05 AM Japan time.
The government added that what appears to be part of the missile is likely to have fallen into the Yellow Sea about 200 kilometers west of the Korean Peninsula at about 9:58 AM.
